Hijikata survives two tiebreaks to edge Collignon in Winston-Salem

Rinky Hijikata came from a set down to beat Raphael Collignon 3-6 7-6 7-6 in the Winston-Salem round of 32, the Australian settling both of the last two sets in tiebreaks. Collignon had the sharper serving numbers on paper, landing 55.6 percent of first deliveries and winning 69.6 percent of those points against Hijikata's 49.2 and 61.0, and he struck eight aces to his opponent's four. The difference came behind the second ball: Collignon won only 41.8 percent of his second-serve points and coughed up nine double faults to Hijikata's five. The Australian moves through after nearly three hours of fine margins.
