Cerundolo edges past Suresh 7-6 6-3 in Winston-Salem

Juan Manuel Cerundolo came through a tight opening set and then pulled clear, beating Dhakshineswar Suresh 7-6, 6-3 in the Winston-Salem round of 32. The Argentine landed only 44.7 percent of his first serves but was almost untouchable when he did, winning 85.3 percent of those points, and he backed it up with 61.9 percent behind the second ball. Suresh, by contrast, found 79.2 percent of first serves and hit 10 aces, yet won just 25 percent of his second-serve points, a gap that decided the match despite Cerundolo's five double faults. It was a solid start to the Argentine's week.
