Rus recovers to beat Kostovic in US Open qualifying
Arantxa Rus came from a set down to beat Teodora Kostovic 4-6 6-4 6-4 in the final qualifying round at the US Open. The Dutchwoman was the steadier server across the three sets, landing 64.4% of her first deliveries and winning 70.7% of those points, and she also held firm behind the second ball, taking 56.2% of those points to Kostovic's 54.8%. The Serb's seven aces, against two from Rus, gave her free points but she found the court with only 58.4% of her first serves. Rus's six double faults never proved decisive, and she moved into the main draw.
