Bandecchi edges Charaeva 6-4 6-4 in US Open qualifying
Susan Bandecchi came through a tight straight-setter at US Open qualifying, beating Alina Charaeva 6-4 6-4 to reach the final qualifying round. The Swiss was the steadier server throughout, landing 67.6% of her first deliveries and winning 64% of those points, while conceding just two double faults against three aces. Charaeva's delivery was the weak link: only 57.7% of her first serves found the box, she coughed up six double faults, and she won just 40% of her second-serve points. In a match of narrow margins, that gap on serve was enough to decide both sets.
