Bonzi fights back to beat Halys in three at Winston-Salem
Benjamin Bonzi recovered from a lopsided opening set to beat fellow Frenchman Quentin Halys 2-6 7-6 6-3 in the Winston-Salem round of 32. Halys struck 17 aces to Bonzi's five, but landed only 49.0% of his first serves and paid for it with six double faults, leaving himself exposed once the second set tightened into a tiebreak. Bonzi was the steadier server across the three sets, putting 61.2% of his first deliveries in play and winning 75.0% of those points, plus 51.5% behind the second ball. The all-French contest sent him into the next round.
