Christopher O'Connell controlled a straight-sets win over Greece's Stefanos Sakellaridis, 6-3 6-3, in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals. The margin came down to the second ball: Sakellaridis won just 21.7 percent of his second-serve points, while O'Connell held firm at 51.7 percent behind his own, a gap that repeatedly turned rallies against the Greek. O'Connell landed only 50.8 percent of first serves but made them count, winning 73.3 percent of those points and striking five aces to two, against 66.7 percent for Sakellaridis. The Australian moves through with his serve numbers intact.
