Skatov downs Bailly in straight sets in US Open qualifying
Timofey Skatov moved through the US Open qualifying quarterfinals with a controlled 6-4 6-2 win over Gilles Arnaud Bailly. The Kazakh's serve was the difference: he landed 73.2 percent of first deliveries and won 75.6 percent of those points, adding four aces without a single double fault. Bailly matched him for cleanliness with no double faults of his own, but won only 59.6 percent behind the first serve and 47.6 percent behind the second, leaving him under constant pressure in his own games. The straight-sets result carried Skatov another step closer to the main draw in New York.
