Tauson recovers to beat Zarazua in three sets in Monterrey
Clara Tauson dropped the opening set but grew into the match and ran away with it, beating home favourite Renata Zarazua 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the Monterrey first round. The Dane's serve was the difference once it settled: she struck 11 aces to Zarazua's none and won 78.0% of her first-serve points, even though only 56.9% of them landed and six double faults crept in. Zarazua found the court far more often, at 70.7%, but won just 56.6% behind it and 36.4% on her second delivery. The bagel finish gave Tauson a clean start to her week.
