Vandromme beats Minnen 6-1 6-3 in US Open qualifying
Jeline Vandromme controlled an all-Belgian meeting from the start, beating compatriot Greetje Minnen 6-1 6-3 in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals. The serve numbers told the story: Vandromme landed 76.6 percent of her first deliveries and won 69.4 percent of those points, while holding firm behind the second ball at 54.5 percent and committing no double faults. Minnen, by contrast, found only 67.3 percent of first serves and won just 45.5 percent behind them, with 37.5 percent on the second, offering repeated openings. The straight-sets win carried Vandromme through to the final qualifying round.
