Andreescu routs Vedder 6-1 6-2 in US Open qualifying
Bianca Andreescu needed little more than an hour's worth of authority to sweep past Eva Vedder 6-1, 6-2 in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals, a rout from first ball to last. The Canadian's serve was the platform: 69.1% of her first deliveries landed, she won 71.1% of those points and struck five aces against three double faults. Vedder never found the same footing, landing just 51.0% of her first serves and winning only 33.3% of her second-serve points, with five double faults compounding the trouble. For Andreescu, it was a clean, controlled step through the qualifying draw.
