Duckworth routs Vandecasteele 6-2 6-1 in Winston-Salem opener
James Duckworth needed little more than an hour's worth of dominance to sweep past American Quinn Vandecasteele 6-2 6-1 in the Winston-Salem first round. The Australian's first delivery was close to untouchable: he landed only 53.2 percent of them, but won 88 percent of those points and struck four aces, and even his second serve held up at 54.5 percent despite six double faults. Vandecasteele had no such cushion, winning just 61.3 percent behind his first ball and a punishing 24 percent behind his second, which left him under constant pressure. It was a clean, low-stress start to Duckworth's tournament.
