Bonzi edges Majchrzak 6-4 7-6 in Winston-Salem opener
Benjamin Bonzi came through a tight straight-sets test against Kamil Majchrzak, winning 6-4 7-6 in the Round of 64 in Winston-Salem. The Frenchman's first delivery was the difference-maker whenever he found it: he landed only 51.9 percent of first serves but won 77.5 percent of those points, and nine double faults never quite cost him a set. Majchrzak matched him closely off the first ball, taking 78.0 percent from a 55.4 percent first-serve rate with six aces to Bonzi's four, but he won just 45.5 percent behind the second serve against Bonzi's 48.6. The result put Bonzi into the next round on hard courts.
