Ymer beats Roncadelli 6-4 6-3 in US Open qualifying
Elias Ymer needed only two sets to move through the US Open qualifying quarterfinals, beating Franco Roncadelli 6-4 6-3 in a straight-setter that stayed tight without ever slipping away from the Swede. His first serve landed just 48.4 percent of the time, but it was close to untouchable when it did, winning 83.9 percent of those points and bringing seven aces against Roncadelli's none. The Uruguayan was the steadier server on paper, finding 71.9 percent of first deliveries with no double faults, yet won only 53.7 percent behind them. Ymer's reward was a place in the qualifying semifinals.
