Jacquet beats Midon in straight sets in US Open qualifying
Kyrian Jacquet came through the US Open qualifying quarterfinals with a controlled 6-4 6-3 win over Lautaro Midon, taking one clear opening in each set and never letting the Argentine back level. Neither man found much rhythm on first delivery — Jacquet landed just 50 percent, Midon only 42.9 — so the second ball decided it, and there the gap was decisive: 58.6 percent of points won for the Frenchman against 40.6 for Midon. Both hit two aces and three double faults, underlining how little else separated them. The result carried Jacquet into the final round of qualifying.
