Schwaerzler recovers to beat Heide in US Open qualifying

Joel Schwaerzler dropped the opening set 6-2 but turned the match around to defeat Gustavo Heide 2-6 6-4 6-4 in the final round of US Open qualifying. The Austrian's delivery was the difference once he settled: he landed 60 percent of his first serves and won 77.8 percent of those points, adding seven aces to just two double faults. Heide, by contrast, hit no aces, coughed up eight double faults and found the court with only 45.8 percent of his first serves, leaving him exposed on second balls he won 53.8 percent of. The comeback carried Schwaerzler through the qualifying draw.
