Gaubas edges Feldbausch 6-3 7-6 to reach US Open qualifying semis

Vilius Gaubas came through a straight-sets test against Kilian Feldbausch, 6-3 7-6, in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals. The Lithuanian's serve was the difference: he landed 71.4 percent of his first deliveries and won 82.2 percent of those points, giving Feldbausch almost nothing to attack in the opening set. The Swiss found only 49.2 percent of his first serves and paid for four double faults, leaving him to scrap through service games and eventually a tiebreak. Gaubas was less secure behind his second ball, winning 44.4 percent, but his first-strike numbers carried him into the qualifying semifinals.
