Barrios Vera beats Prado Angelo in three to reach US Open qualifying semis
Tomas Barrios Vera came through a three-set swing to beat Juan Carlos Prado Angelo 6-2 5-7 6-0 in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals. The Chilean controlled the opening set behind a solid serve, winning 73.9% of his first-serve points and an unusually high 68.8% behind his second, and only a dip in the middle of the match let the Bolivian back in to take the second 7-5. The difference over three sets was Prado Angelo's first delivery: just 56.3% in, and only 47.5% of those points won, with four double faults. Barrios Vera's bagel third set completed the job and moved him a round from the main draw.
