Pridankina routs Falei 6-1 6-3 in US Open qualifying
Elena Pridankina needed only two lopsided sets to move past Aliona Falei 6-1, 6-3 in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals. The Russian was the steadier server despite landing just 63.9% of her first deliveries, winning 61.5% of those points and holding firm behind her second ball at 50%. Falei found the box more often, at 71.7%, but the depth was not there: she won only 47.4% of her first-serve points and a damaging 20% behind the second, and both players coughed up five double faults. That control on serve carried Pridankina into the final qualifying round.
