Rebecca Marino controlled her US Open qualifying quarterfinal from the outset, running away with the opening set 6-1 before closing out Fiona Ferro 6-4. The Canadian's serve was the difference: she landed 61.2 percent of her first deliveries and won 83.3 percent of those points, striking eight aces despite five double faults.
