Oliynykova beats Sherif 6-3 6-4 in Monterrey first round
Oleksandra Oliynykova produced a controlled straight-sets win over Mayar Sherif, 6-3 6-4, in the Monterrey round of 32. The Ukrainian's edge came from the quality behind her first delivery: she landed 68.8% of them and won 68.2% of those points, against 62.7% for Sherif on an almost identical 68.9% first-serve rate. The gap widened on the second ball, where Oliynykova took half her points to the Egyptian's 43.5%, leaving Sherif under pressure whenever a first serve missed. Three double faults did little damage, and a single ace was enough on a day when consistency mattered more than power. It was a clean, straightforward passage into the next round.
