Timofeeva edges Rakhimova in deciding tiebreak in Monterrey qualifying
Maria Timofeeva came from a set down to beat Kamilla Rakhimova 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 in the final round of qualifying at the WTA event in Monterrey, settling an all-Uzbek contest in a deciding tiebreak. Rakhimova's serve was the more fragile of the two: she landed just 48.2 percent of her first deliveries, won 57.4 percent of those points and coughed up nine double faults. Timofeeva was steadier, putting 57.4 percent of first serves in and winning 66.7 percent behind them, with four aces to her opponent's one. The reward was a place in the main draw.
