Joint recovers from 0-6 to beat Putintseva in Monterrey qualifying

Maya Joint survived a brutal opening in the Monterrey qualifying final, losing the first set 6-0 before turning the match around to beat Yulia Putintseva 0-6, 6-3, 6-1. The Australian's serve was the difference once she found her rhythm: she landed 59.7% of her first deliveries, won 67.6% of those points and struck four aces against just two double faults. Putintseva, by contrast, managed no aces, five double faults and got only 48.6% of her first serves in, leaving her exposed on a second serve that yielded 38.9% of points. The comeback carried Joint into the main draw.
