Rottgering downs Grenier 6-4 6-1 in Winston-Salem qualifying
Mees Rottgering booked his place in the Winston-Salem main draw with a 6-4 6-1 win over Hugo Grenier in the final round of qualifying, tightening his grip after a competitive opening set. The Dutchman's delivery was the difference: he landed 65.7% of his first serves and won 70.5% of those points, adding three aces against just two double faults. Grenier, by contrast, found only 40.3% of his first serves and won 39.1% of his second-serve points, with five double faults compounding the problem. The result carried Rottgering through to the main draw on hard court.
