Balshaw rallies past Gorzny to reach Winston-Salem main draw
Felix Balshaw came from a set down to beat Sebastian Gorzny 4-6 6-4 6-3 in the final round of qualifying at Winston-Salem. The Frenchman's serve was a boom-or-bust weapon: only 54.6% of his first deliveries landed, but he won 74.6% of those points and struck seven aces, enough to offset a hefty 10 double faults. Gorzny was the steadier server on paper, landing 62.8% of first serves, yet he won just 64.4% of those points and coughed up eight double faults of his own. The reward for Balshaw was a place in the main draw.
