Pegula edges Swiatek in three sets to reach Cincinnati final
Jessica Pegula came through a three-set semifinal at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati, beating Iga Swiatek 7-5 4-6 6-4 after surrendering the second set. The American's serve was the sharper weapon in the decisive moments: she struck four aces to Swiatek's one and won 63.8% of her first-serve points, even though only 57.4% of them landed. Swiatek found the box more often, at 70.3%, but took just 58.9% of those points and was undone behind the second delivery, winning 34.2% while coughing up seven double faults to Pegula's two. The result carried Pegula into the Cincinnati final.
