Bondar downs Jacquemot 6-3 6-3 in Monterrey qualifying
Anna Bondar controlled her Monterrey qualifying semifinal from the outset, beating Elsa Jacquemot 6-3, 6-3 in a straight-sets win that never looked like slipping away. The Hungarian's serve was the difference: she landed 59 percent of first deliveries and won 75 percent of those points, while backing it up with 64 percent behind the second ball and five aces. Jacquemot, by contrast, found only 51.8 percent of her first serves and took just 37 percent of second-serve points, her five double faults compounding the problem. The result carried Bondar into the final qualifying round in Mexico.
