Vidmanova beats Werner 7-5 6-4 in Monterrey qualifying
Darja Vidmanova came through a tight straight-setter against Caroline Werner 7-5 6-4 to reach the final round of qualifying in Monterrey. The Czech built the win on a very solid first delivery, landing 81.0 percent of them and winning 68.6 percent of those points, while striking eight aces to Werner's two. The German never found the same platform: only 57.8 percent of her first serves found the box, and seven double faults kept handing back initiative even though she won 44.4 percent behind her second ball. Vidmanova stays on course for the main draw.
