Vandecasteele beats Li Tu 6-3 6-2 in Winston-Salem qualifying
Quinn Vandecasteele needed only two comfortable sets to see off Li Tu 6-3 6-2 in the qualifying semifinals at Winston-Salem. The American's serve was the difference: he landed just 54.0 percent of first deliveries but won 76.5 percent of those points, and crucially held firm behind the second ball, taking 51.7 percent there. Tu, by contrast, managed only 31.6 percent of his second-serve points and coughed up four double faults to Vandecasteele's three, leaving him under constant pressure despite a comparable 55.8 percent first-serve rate. The straight-sets win carried Vandecasteele into the final round of qualifying.
