Tiafoe edges Musetti 7-6 7-5 to reach Cincinnati semifinals
Frances Tiafoe came through a tight straight-setter against Lorenzo Musetti, 7-6 7-5, in the Cincinnati quarterfinals, with neither set decided until the very end. The American landed only 44.4% of his first serves but was close to untouchable when he did, winning 86.1% of those points, and he limited the damage behind the second ball by taking 48.9%. Musetti was the steadier server by percentage at 53.2% in, yet won just 70.0% of his first-serve points and 43.2% of his second, and his four double faults to Tiafoe's two added to the pressure. Both men struck four aces. The result carried Tiafoe into the last four at a Masters 1000.
