Bejlek fights past Keys in a Cincinnati quarterfinal decider
Sara Bejlek came from a set down to beat Madison Keys 3-6 6-4 7-6 in the Cincinnati quarterfinals, closing out a third set that went all the way to a tiebreak. The Czech's serve was the steadier platform once she settled: she landed 65.7% of first deliveries and won 73.1% of those points, against 58.0% and 69.2% for Keys. The American's second delivery kept her afloat at 48.9% won, ahead of Bejlek's 45.7%, but six double faults undercut her, while Bejlek struck four aces to four doubles. It was a signature win at WTA 1000 level for Bejlek.
