Madison Keys came through a demanding straight-sets test against Xiyu Wang, 7-6 6-4, to reach the quarter-finals in Cincinnati. Wang's Cincinnati Surge Runs into Keys' Ballistic Baseline

Four straight wins in Cincinnati, none of them cheap, have carried Xiyu Wang into the second week of a WTA 1000 and into the path of the one opponent whose ceiling she has never solved. Keys has won both previous meetings, and with an Australian Open title behind her she arrives here as a genuine contender rather than a seed to be navigated.
