Tirante recovers from a set down to oust Mensik in Cincinnati
Thiago Tirante came from a set behind to beat Jakub Mensik 5-7 6-4 6-4 in the Cincinnati round of 16, turning the match around after dropping a tight opener. The difference lay in the quality behind Tirante's delivery: he landed only 52.9 percent of first serves but won 84.4 percent of those points, against 79.3 percent for Mensik. The second ball told the same story, Tirante taking 52.5 percent to the Czech's 43.9, and Mensik's six double faults to two proved costly. The Argentine's reward was a place in the quarter-finals at a Masters 1000.
