Bejlek fights back to beat Alexandrova in Cincinnati
Sara Bejlek recovered from a set down to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova 4-6 6-1 6-2 in the Cincinnati round of 32, taking control of the match once the opening set had slipped away. The Czech's serve was the difference: she landed 65.9 percent of her first deliveries and won 70.4 percent of those points, against 60.5 percent and 55.1 percent for Alexandrova. Bejlek also struck five aces to her opponent's one, and held firm behind the second ball, winning half of those points while Alexandrova managed 46.9 percent and coughed up seven double faults. It was a statement win at the 1000 level.
