Nakashima outlasts Medvedev in three sets in Cincinnati
Brandon Nakashima recovered from a first-set tie-break loss to beat Daniil Medvedev 6-7 7-6 6-1 in the Cincinnati round of 32, taking the second set in another breaker before running away with the decider. The serve told the story: Nakashima landed only 55.7 percent of first deliveries but won 79.7 percent of those points, and crucially he committed just one double fault all match. Medvedev struck 11 aces to his opponent's eight, yet ten double faults and only 44.2 percent of second-serve points won left him vulnerable. For the American, it was a statement win over a former Masters champion on hard courts.
