Rybakina edges past Frech 6-4 7-6 in Cincinnati third round

Elena Rybakina came through a tight straight-sets test against Magdalena Frech, 6-4 7-6, in the round of 32 in Cincinnati. The Kazakh's first serve was the difference: she landed 58.5 percent of them and won 84.2 percent of those points, well clear of Frech's 67.3 percent behind a similar 57.3 percent success rate. Both players struck five aces, but Rybakina's four double faults kept the second set on a knife edge until the tiebreak. Frech, winning only 39 percent of her second-serve points, could not force a decider. Rybakina moved on without dropping a set.
