Noskova fires 17 aces to beat Tauson in Cincinnati last 32
Linda Noskova came through a tense opening set in a tie-break and then pulled clear to beat Clara Tauson 7-6 6-2 in the Cincinnati round of 32. The Czech's serve carried her: 17 aces and 78.3% of points won behind a first delivery that landed 65.7% of the time, enough to cover the 10 double faults and a modest 37.5% return on second serve. Tauson, by contrast, found only 50.7% of her first serves and won 70.3% of those points, leaving her exposed too often. The straight-sets win pushed Noskova into the third round of the WTA 1000.
