Mensik's serve carries him past Hijikata in Cincinnati
Jakub Mensik needed just two sets to see off Rinky Hijikata 6-3 6-4 in the Cincinnati round of 32, controlling the match from the baseline behind a dominant delivery. The Czech struck 12 aces against three double faults and landed 64.7% of his first serves, winning 84.1% of those points, a level Hijikata could not match: the Australian hit no aces and took only 52.0% of his first-serve points. Hijikata's numbers behind his second ball were excellent at 80.0%, but he did not get there often enough, putting 71.4% of first serves in play. For Mensik, it was a clean, efficient passage at Masters 1000 level.
