Tirante edges Landaluce in two tie-breaks in Cincinnati
Thiago Tirante came through a match without a single break of serve, beating Martin Landaluce 7-6 7-6 in the Cincinnati round of 32 with both sets settled in tie-breaks. The Argentine landed only 52.0% of his first serves but was close to untouchable behind them, winning 82.1% of those points and an unusually high 77.8% behind his second, backed by nine aces and just two double faults. Landaluce served at 56.7% and won 72.5% of first-serve points, but 59.0% behind the second and five double faults left him short in the deciding moments. Tirante takes his place in the third round.
