Flavio Cobolli survived a three-set battle in the Cincinnati round of 32, beating Alexander Blockx 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 after taking two tight sets by the same margin. The Italian's steadiness was the difference: he landed 61.1% of his first serves and won 69.7% of those points, while conceding just one double fault all match. Blockx was more explosive, striking 10 aces and winning 78.2% of his first-serve points, but he found only 51.4% of first serves and coughed up seven double faults. Behind a second serve that held up at 59.5%, Cobolli booked his place in the third round.
