Siniakova recovers from opening-set loss to beat Bouzas Maneiro
Katerina Siniakova lost the opening set in a tie-break and then took control, beating Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-7 6-1 6-1 in the Cincinnati round of 64. The Czech's serve was erratic all afternoon — only 42.2% of first serves landed and she struck 13 double faults — but when it did land it was decisive, with 68.4% of first-serve points won against just 45.3% for her opponent. Bouzas Maneiro found the court more often, at 60.2% first serves in, yet won under half the points behind both deliveries and could not stem the slide. Siniakova moved into the next round.
