Tjen edges Golubic in three sets in Cincinnati opener
Janice Tjen came through one of the tightest openers of the Cincinnati Round of 64, beating Viktorija Golubic 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 after nearly three sets of separation by the barest margins. The Indonesian landed only 57.9 percent of her first serves, but she made them count, winning 64.2 percent of those points and striking four aces to Golubic's one. The Swiss was marginally the tidier server on first delivery at 64.3 percent in, yet won 63.5 percent behind it and just 46.3 percent on second serve, a shade below Tjen's 47.5. Six double faults did not cost Tjen the win, and she moved into the next round.
