Merida routs Bergs 6-3 6-2 in Cincinnati Round of 64
Daniel Merida needed only two sets to move past Zizou Bergs 6-3 6-2 in the Round of 64 in Cincinnati, controlling the match from the outset on the hard courts. The Spaniard's first delivery was the difference: he landed 56.9% of his first serves and won 83.8% of those points, while Bergs found the box just 38.1% of the time and was left exposed behind a second serve that yielded only 42.3%. Both men were wayward at times, Merida piling up nine double faults to his opponent's six, but the Belgian never found a foothold. It was a clean, efficient win for Merida at Masters 1000 level.
