Borges edges Cerundolo 6-4 6-4 in Cincinnati second round
Nuno Borges came through a tight straight-setter in the Cincinnati round of 64, beating Francisco Cerundolo 6-4 6-4 with two decisive breaks and nothing else separating them. The Portuguese was close to untouchable behind his first delivery, landing 60% of them and winning 93.3% of those points, with five aces against three double faults. Cerundolo, by contrast, found only 49.2% of first serves and won 71% of them, leaving him exposed far too often; his 56.2% on second serve barely edged Borges' 55%. The serving numbers alone explained a match decided by the smallest margins, and Borges took the reward.
