Medvedev edges past Trungelliti in straight sets in Cincinnati
Daniil Medvedev came through a tight straight-setter against Marco Trungelliti, 6-4 7-5, in the Cincinnati Round of 64, never trailing on the scoreboard but never quite pulling clear either. The Russian's serve was an all-or-nothing weapon: only 49.3% of his first deliveries landed, and he coughed up nine double faults, but when the first ball went in he was close to untouchable, winning 88.6% of those points along with 11 aces. Trungelliti was the steadier server on paper, 70% first serves in and no double faults, yet he won just 38.1% behind his second delivery, and that margin decided both sets. For Medvedev, it was a scrappy but efficient way into the next round.
