Gauff recovers from a set down to beat Samsonova in Cincinnati
Coco Gauff turned around a rough start to beat Liudmila Samsonova 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the Round of 64 in Cincinnati. After dropping the opener, the American leaned on her serve, finishing with 11 aces and winning 81.5 percent of the points behind a first delivery she landed 65.9 percent of the time. The vulnerability was on the second ball, where she took only 35.7 percent and coughed up five double faults, but Samsonova never punished it consistently, landing just 55.7 percent of her own first serves. Gauff closed with a one-sided decider to move on.
