Stephens sees off Potapova 6-2 6-4 in Cincinnati opener
Sloane Stephens made a clean start to the Cincinnati Round of 64, beating Anastasia Potapova 6-2 6-4 without ever losing control of the match. The American's serve was the steadier of the two: she landed 65.4% of her first deliveries, won 64.7% of those points and half of her second-serve points, with just one double fault. Potapova, by contrast, found only 38.5% of her first serves, coughed up nine double faults and took a mere 31.2% of second-serve points, leaving her under pressure in almost every service game. It was a comfortable opening win for Stephens on hard court.
