Faria stuns Shelton 6-4 6-4 in Cincinnati Round of 64
Jaime Faria produced the upset of the Cincinnati Round of 64, beating Ben Shelton 6-4 6-4 in a straight-setter decided by narrow margins in both sets. The Portuguese landed only 51.8% of his first serves and coughed up six double faults, yet he was remarkably solid behind the ball, winning 65.9% of first-serve points and an outstanding 58.5% on his second. That second delivery was the difference: Shelton, despite a tidier 64.6% first-serve rate and just three double faults, won only 43.5% of his second-serve points. Five aces to three completed a composed, deserved win for Faria.
