Anisimova beats Sonmez 6-2 6-3 in Cincinnati opener
Amanda Anisimova needed only two straightforward sets to see off Zeynep Sonmez 6-2 6-3 in the Cincinnati round of 64, controlling the match from the baseline and never letting her opponent settle. The American landed 63 percent of her first serves and won 67.6 percent of those points, backing it up with seven aces despite five double faults. Sonmez, by contrast, was undone behind her delivery: only 59.4 percent of first serves found the box, she won just 52.6 percent of those points, and her second serve produced a meagre 26.9 percent alongside seven double faults. It was a clean start to the American's tournament.
