Blockx serves past Navone in straight sets in Cincinnati
Alexander Blockx needed only two sets to see off Mariano Navone 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 64 in Cincinnati, controlling the match from the baseline of his own serve. The Belgian struck 11 aces to Navone's none and won 84.2 percent of the points behind his first delivery, a number the Argentine could not match at 65.8 percent. Blockx landed 63.3 percent of first serves and kept his errors down to two double faults, the same total as his opponent. Navone stayed competitive on second serve, winning 61.1 percent, but that alone was not enough against such a firm hold. The win moved Blockx into the next round of a Masters 1000 on hard courts.
