Trungelliti edges Medjedovic 7-5 7-6 in Cincinnati opener
Marco Trungelliti came through a tight straight-setter in the Cincinnati first round, beating Hamad Medjedovic 7-5 7-6. The Argentine's serve carried him: 14 aces, 76.9% of points won behind the first delivery and a robust 62.1% behind the second, even though only 57.4% of his first serves landed. Medjedovic served with similar accuracy at 56.6% and struck 10 aces, but he won just 67.9% of first-serve points and 46.5% of second-serve points, and nine double faults left him exposed in the closing stages of both sets. The win put Trungelliti into the second round of the Masters 1000.
